Creating a new entrance for a driveway
This week at Simons Landscaping, we have been creating a new driveway entrance for a house in Norfolk. The new entrance was created to give extra space and easier access to the drive. By creating this new access, this also creates a front garden for the property, allowing for more space.
Created a new entrance of the road and filling in the old one, to create room for a front garden
We started this project by removing laurel hedging. This was done to create the new opening. Once removed, we Dug off all of the grass and soil from the front garden, in preparation for the new drive.
Then we dug all of the hard-core from the old drive. The hardcore was then reused for the new drive area. The soil dug from creating the new drive, was then used for the old drive; allowing for new landscaping projects.
Once the hardcore was levelled and compacted, we then installed round top concrete edgings, which where laid in concrete. On top of the compacted hardcore, we laid hoggin coating; which was compacted to give a level surface. 20mm stone was then dressed on top of the hoggin, finishing off the new drive surface.
All of the soil that was put into the old drive, was levelled over and compacted. With a level surface, we placed new turf on top, this was done to create an extra garden area for the back of the house. The laurel hedging was then replanted across the old entrance; this was to continue the hedge line.
