A sunny start to March gave us the perfect conditions to begin another exciting project in Tasburgh for one of our returning customers. We were delighted to be back, creating a beautiful network of triple sandstone cobble sets with a combination of straight and gently curved pathways to complement the garden’s layout.

Each sandstone cobble was carefully prepared with an SBR bonding agent applied to the underside before being laid. This crucial step creates a much stronger bond with the cement mortar, helping to prevent movement over time and ensuring the pathways remain solid, durable, and built to last for many years.

The combination of clean lines and flowing curves adds character and definition to the garden, naturally guiding the eye through the space while creating distinct planting areas. The finished cobble sets provide a timeless, high-quality finish that frames the garden beautifully and enhances its overall structure, giving the entire outdoor space a crisp, elegant appearance.

It’s always a pleasure returning to previous customers and helping transform their gardens with craftsmanship that’s designed to stand the test of time.

The next two projects we’ve chosen to highlight are commercial contracts that demonstrate the versatility of our team and our ability to deliver high-quality surfacing works on a much larger scale. One project took us to Cromer, Norfolk, while the other was completed in Eye, Suffolk.

Our first commercial project in Cromer involved hand laying and raking approximately 700 metres of pathways, each measuring 5.5 metres wide, leading down to the seafront. This was a substantial undertaking that required careful planning, teamwork, and precision to achieve a consistent, high-quality finish across the entire site. On the first day alone, we laid an impressive 80 tonnes of material, before returning on day two to complete the remaining 26 tonnes. Working by hand on a project of this scale requires both skill and experience, ensuring the surface is evenly distributed, properly compacted, and finished to the highest standard while standing up to the demands of heavy pedestrian use.

The second commercial project took us to Eye, Suffolk, where we laid 140 tonnes of 10mm Stone Mastic Asphalt (SMA). Despite battling strong winds throughout the day, our experienced crew maintained excellent productivity and attention to detail, delivering a smooth, durable finish without compromising on quality. Challenging weather conditions can make surfacing work significantly more demanding, but thanks to careful coordination and a professional approach, the project was completed efficiently and to specification.

Having our own fleet of specialist tarmacking machinery, rollers, and equipment allows us to work efficiently while maintaining complete control over every stage of the process. Combined with our fully qualified and experienced team, this enables us to deliver commercial surfacing projects safely, on schedule, and to an exceptionally high standard. Whether it’s large-scale public pathways, commercial developments, or private contracts, we pride ourselves on providing reliable workmanship and durable surfaces that are built to last.

The next project we’ve chosen to feature is a complete garden renovation in Horsford, transforming an ordinary outdoor space into a practical, attractive garden designed for the whole family to enjoy. This project incorporated several different elements, from premium paving and purpose-built bases to drainage improvements, new turf, and a dedicated children’s play area.

The centerpiece of the renovation was a stunning Kandla Grey porcelain patio, laid using 600 x 900mm porcelain slabs in a classic stretcher bond pattern. The patio extends seamlessly from the rear of the property and continues along the fence line, creating a generous entertaining space while improving access throughout the garden. Where the two paved areas met, we incorporated precision miter cuts, producing a clean, professional finish that demonstrates the attention to detail we apply to every project.

At the bottom of the garden, we constructed two solid slab bases—one ready for a new summer house and the other for a greenhouse. Both bases were carefully prepared to provide stable, long-lasting foundations, ensuring the structures can be installed with confidence and remain secure for years to come.

To maintain the clean appearance of the new patio, we installed galvanized recessed manhole covers, allowing the porcelain paving to continue through the inspection covers for a virtually invisible finish. This small detail makes a significant difference to the overall look of the completed project, eliminating unsightly access covers and maintaining the premium appearance of the paved area.

As part of the renovation, we also installed new drainage to improve water management across the garden before laying high-quality rolled lawn turf. The result is a lush, level lawn that provides an attractive focal point while offering a practical space for everyday family use.

To create a safe and clearly defined children’s play area, we installed softwood sleeper edging, separating the lawn from the play space. The area was then filled with certified play bark, providing a softer, safer surface for the trampoline and playhouse while creating a tidy, low-maintenance finish that complements the rest of the garden.

This project perfectly showcases how combining high-quality materials, thoughtful design, and skilled workmanship can completely transform an outdoor space. The finished garden offers dedicated areas for relaxing, entertaining, gardening, and children’s play, creating a beautiful and functional space that the family can enjoy throughout the year.

Alongside the larger projects featured above, our team also completed a wide range of domestic landscaping and surfacing projects throughout the month. No matter the size of the job, we approach every project with the same commitment to quality workmanship, attention to detail, and customer satisfaction.

Our domestic work included the installation of beautiful Indian sandstone and porcelain patios, helping homeowners create stylish, practical outdoor living spaces that can be enjoyed all year round. We also constructed bespoke planter beds to add structure, colour, and character to gardens, while carrying out turfing projects using quality rolled lawn to create healthy, vibrant lawns with an instant impact.

Drainage improvements continued to be an important part of many of our projects, ensuring gardens and driveways remain functional by effectively managing surface water and preventing future issues. We also completed several tar and chip installations, providing customers with a durable, attractive, and cost-effective surfacing solution that offers excellent longevity and a traditional finish.

These varied projects highlight the diverse range of services we offer, from small garden improvements to complete landscape transformations and large commercial surfacing contracts. Whether we’re laying a single patio or completing hundreds of tonnes of surfacing, our goal is always the same—to deliver a high-quality finish that our customers can rely on for years to come.

As well as working on site, we also dedicated time to investing in our team. During the month, we spent a full day back in the classroom completing our annual First Aid at Work training. Regular refresher courses ensure that every member of our team remains fully compliant with current health and safety requirements while keeping their lifesaving skills up to date. We firmly believe that ongoing training is just as important as investing in quality equipment, allowing us to maintain the highest standards of safety and professionalism on every project we undertake.

By balancing a busy workload with continuous training and development, we’re able to provide our customers with the confidence that every project is completed by a skilled, qualified, and safety-conscious team.
