Creating extra parking space on a driveway
At this job, the client wanted to create extra parking space for his driveway, by demolishing the current standing garage. By creating this extra parking space, this would give the house a more stylish appearance.
We started the job by demolishing the garage on the driveway. In the process we saved all of the roofing tiles for the client, allowing them to be reused again. We demolished the roof by hand; this was to enable the separation of the: wood, felt and plastic. All of the materials from the roof will be recycled. The concrete walls and floor where broken up and taken away; the crushed concrete and stone will be reused for crushed tar core.
Then we installed new edgings on the driveway; this allowed us to extend the parking area further. Graded the driveway with hogging, compacted and then dressed with a 10mm Golden Pea shingle. The golden pea shingle gives a more modern stylish look to the driveway.
At the entrance of the driveway, we installed a tarmac display. This would prevent the pea shingle drifting onto the road edge. The tarmac entrance gives a smooth, stable entrance to the driveway. It also finishes off the modern styled driveway.
To give privacy to the rear of the garden; after demolishing the garage. We erected a wooden close board fence. Soil was laid in front of the fencing with a grass seed dressing; this would allow for a grass area to grow and blend in with the rest of the drive.
