Despite a particularly wet February, our team continued to deliver high-quality landscaping and groundwork projects across Norwich, Norfolk, Suffolk proving that challenging weather is no match for careful planning, the right equipment, and an experienced workforce.

Our month began with a complete back garden transformation at a property in Norwich city center. The existing garden was overgrown and in need of a complete makeover, so we started by clearing all the grass and vegetation using our Bobcat, allowing the site to be prepared quickly and efficiently. Once cleared, the ground was carefully levelled before importing premium landscape soil to create the perfect foundation for a healthy, long-lasting lawn. High-quality rolled turf was then professionally laid, instantly transforming the space into a lush garden.

To add both structure and character, we constructed bespoke raised planting beds using pressure-treated softwood sleepers, creating attractive spaces for planting while adding definition to the garden. A stylish stepping stone pathway was installed to provide practical access and was complemented with a decorative 20mm stone dressing, giving the finished garden a clean, contemporary appearance that is both low maintenance and built to last. The result was a beautiful outdoor space that is functional, inviting, and ready to be enjoyed throughout the year.

We also completed the construction of a brand-new parking area for a residential property in Norwich. The project began with a full 150mm excavation to remove unsuitable ground and create the correct foundation depth. A robust compacted hardcore sub-base was then installed to provide exceptional strength and long-term stability. Precast concrete edgings were fitted to create crisp, durable boundaries before the parking area was finished with permeable pea shingle, offering excellent drainage while maintaining an attractive, natural appearance.

The completed parking area provides the homeowner with a practical, hard-wearing solution that is visually appealing. Built to withstand daily vehicle use with minimal maintenance, it complements the property’s surroundings while adding convenience, kerb appeal, and long-term value.

This car park resurfacing project in Wymondham required careful planning and preparation to ensure a durable, long-lasting finish. Before any surfacing works could begin, we identified a structurally compromised lime tree located adjacent to the site. Following an inspection by our qualified arborist, it was discovered that the tree was suffering from significant internal decay, making it both a safety risk and a potential threat to the new surface. Removing the tree at this stage eliminated the risk of future root movement or structural failure causing damage to the completed car park, protecting the client’s long-term investment.

The second phase of the project focused on preparing the existing car park to the required levels. This involved carefully regulating the sub-base, ensuring the entire area was correctly profiled to provide effective surface water drainage. As part of these works, all manhole covers and drainage gullies were adjusted and reset to their new finished levels, ensuring they sat flush with the new surface while maintaining full access for future maintenance. We also installed new tarmac pathways along both sides of the car park, providing safe and durable pedestrian routes that complemented the overall scheme.

On day three, we completed the main surfacing works by laying approximately 40 tons of 10mm Stone Mastic Asphalt (SMA). Using our own fleet of specialist paving machinery and equipment allowed us to complete the surfacing efficiently while maintaining exceptional quality control throughout the installation. The result was a smooth, hard-wearing surface designed to withstand the demands of daily vehicle traffic while offering excellent durability and a professional finish.

The final stage of the project involved applying all road markings and line painting. Parking bays were accurately measured and marked out to maximize the available parking capacity while ensuring compliance with the client’s layout requirements. We also installed a clearly defined orange-hatched loading zone to provide a dedicated delivery area for lorries servicing the adjoining retail units. These finishing touches not only improved the functionality and organization of the car park but also enhanced safety for both drivers and pedestrians, delivering a completed project that was practical, visually appealing, and built to serve the site for many years to come.

The next development involved preparing four newly built plots for their external landscaping works, transforming each property from bare construction ground into practical, attractive outdoor living spaces. Extensive groundwork was undertaken to prepare and install permeable tarmac driveways, providing durable parking areas while supporting effective surface water drainage in line with sustainable drainage requirements.

Permeable tarmac pathways were then constructed to the rear gardens, creating safe, low-maintenance access that complements the overall development. To complete the transformation, each garden was carefully graded, cultivated, and finished with high-quality fresh turf, producing healthy, level lawns ready for immediate use. The completed works converted previously muddy, unusable plots into functional and visually appealing outdoor spaces, significantly enhancing both the practicality and overall presentation of the new homes.

At Thorpe end we started with laying a new Raj green Indian sandstone footpath leading to the front door with a nice patio area to each side giving space for plant pots. The driveway had a 6mm SMA resurface with a nice silver grey pre coated fleck rolled into the surface this had a brindle edging to frame the area giving a neat tidy edge.

Nearing the end of the month the sun did shine and the temperatures started to rise. This meant we could carry out some surfacing jobs with tar and shingle. We has prepared these jobs previously just waiting for the right weather. Returning to Suffolk with a long roadway, a 2000m long drive and a carpark in one day, we got the guys on our combi which sprays the hot tar and dresses it with the shingle in one pass, we then rubber roll this to make sure every bit is pushed down.
